Something New

It is amazing to me how something new can make everything around it feel old.  It also is amazing to me how something old can have such a negative connotation.

Last week, my wife and I purchased a new car.  We traded in the car I bought when I first was hired back in 2008.  As soon as we got home with the new car my wife began commenting on how her car seemed so “old” in comparison.

How easy do we forget how nice something is when something newer or “better” comes along?  We must slow down and enjoy as much as we can.  Enjoy the new things but still find appreciation in the more worn things.  The memories from them are irreplaceable, and worth the thought.

Definitely food for thought here. I have a new car and desperately miss my old one. 🙂 Your thought provoking questions wove into your slices always make me pause to think.

I had the EXACT same thought as my husband and I switched cars today and I took the “old one.” Wait! This is the first car I purchased on my own- this is the car I began teaching in 7 years ago! This car drove me from Texas to Maine. This car is everything- I love it.
    Thanks for that reminder!

But it’s true! New cars have so many fancy bells and whistles these days! But….I do miss some things about my old car. It was a cute powder blue color. It held good memories.
